Water and Water Resource Management Services
An estimated 84 million people in Asian cities do not have access to safe drinking water, and approximately 255 million people in these same cities lack basic sanitation services. AECOM International Development is working with water and wastewater utilities to address their serious technical, institutional, and financial constraints in an effort to expand utility services to the poor. By addressing operational deficiencies, utilities can improve performance, increase customer satisfaction, and strengthen revenue streams. One key strategy for increasing revenues is to reduce "non-revenue water" (NRW), which is a measurement of how much produced water is lost or not billed. Improved management and more transparent and accountable governance and decision-making arrangements are also crucial to improved utility performance and increased access to safe water and sanitation services.
